** PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHER OPERATORS WHEN USING THE PECKER **
ALWAYS TUNE INTO A DUMMY LOAD AND NOT ON THE AIR.
CHECK YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE USE.
I DO NOT ADVOCATE THE USE OF THE PECKER AS AN ON AIR TUNING DEVICE

1. WHAT IS THE PECKER?
The Pecker is a software application that emulates an existing hardware amplifier tuning aid operated in SSB mode as opposed to CW or AM. As such, no carrier is used. Its compatible with Windows 7, 10 and 11 upwards.
The Pecker will work with Flex DAX or a Virtual Audio Cable, a sound card or a SignaLink and generates a Sawtooth Audio Tone. This creates an approximate 70% off and a 30% on duty cycle, and the transmitter remains in SSB mode during this tuning cycle.
Press Play to Listen to the Pecker Audio Sample (WAV File):
To use it, select the SSB mode on your radio and hit the PECK ME UP button. Tune your amplifier as usual and then click the PECK ME UP button again to stop tuning.

2. CONFIGURATION OF PTT
To automatically key your radio's PTT, enable the function by clicking on Enable PTT Serial Port. Then, select the COM port from the Select PTT Serial Port dropdown and choose to enable either RTS or DTR.
NOTE: If you do not use Serial Port Control, you must manually key the radio with a footswitch or microphone PTT before clicking the PECK ME UP button.

3. CONFIGURING AUDIO OUT
Select the output sound device from the Select Sound Device dropdown.
If you are using a SignaLink, you should see Speakers (USB Audio CODEC). Other options may include LINE OUT or Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable).

4. SAVING SETTINGS
Once configured, you can click the SAVE SETTINGS button. The Pecker will automatically load the last saved settings each time it starts. You can revert to these saved settings at any time by clicking LOAD SETTINGS.
